Fine Pre-War Colt Single Action Army Revolver
This is a very nice example of a standard short barreled Colt Single Action Army revolver that has the nickel plated finish with mother of pearl grips that was manufactured with the relocated serial numbering sequence that started in late 1919. This late production revolver still retains the backstrap and grip serial number markings on the RIGHT side of those parts. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line, short Colt address markings of "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. Co/HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." and the left side of the barrel is marked "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY 45." The left side of the frame has the two line three patent date marking followed by the un-circled Rampant Colt logo. The serial number, "353315" is located only on the frame and as note above the right side of the grip strap and backstrap. The inside of the loading gate and rear section of the frame are stamped with the assembly number "146".
BBL: 4 3/4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 45 LC
Finish: nickel
Grips: mother of pearl
Serial Number: 353315
Condition: Very fine with 75% plus of the nickel plated finish remaining overall with some finish loss on the side of the cylinder and left front section of the barrel probably from sitting in a holster along with some minor finish loss or flaking on the lower edges of the backstrap and front grip strap. The markings are sharp overall except for the left side of the barrel which show some minor light pin-prick pitting inter-mixed with factory markings on the left side. The grips are in excellent condition with a nice color on both sides with no cracks of damage. A nice example of a late 1928 production Colt Single Action Army revolver with nickel plated finish and mother of pearl grips.
