Colt Model 1862 Police revolver manufactured in 1865. The revolver has a high polish blued barrel and fluted, five-shot, cylinder, casehardened loading lever. The brass trigger guard and backstrap have traces of the original silver. The one-piece walnut grip has a high polish "piano" finish. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped with the legend: "ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA" in a single line reading toward the breech. "COLTS/PATENT" is stamped in two-lines on the left side of the frame. "PAT SEPT 10th 1851" is stamped in one cylinder flute. "36 CAL" is stamped on the left shoulder of the trigger guard. The serial number, "30408" is visible on the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard and backstrap. All of the visible serial numbers match. The cylinder is numbered with the matching last four digits "0408" on the rear face.

Condition: Very fine. The revolver retains 95% of the original blue overall and 90% casehardened finish. The barrel has some finish loss at the muzzle and some minor handling marks on the sides and on the left side of the lug surrounding the wedge slot. All of the safety pins are intact and the percussion nipples and rear face of the cylinder show no flash pitting. The loading lever, hammer and frame has vivid case colors. The trigger and screw heads have 75% of the delicate niter blue finish. Traces of the original silver-plating remain on the brass trigger guard and backstrap. The balance of the trigger guard and backstrap have a pleasant, un-polished patina. The grip is in very fine condition with 75% of the original varnish. All of the markings are sharp. The action is crisp and functions perfectly. This is a very fine, original, example of a Colt Model 1862 Police Revolver in high condition.
