Manufactured in 1864. The top barrel flat has the standard one line New York address. The left side of the frame is stamped "COLTS/PATENT" and "36 CAL" on the left trigger guard shoulder. The cylinder has the Texas Navy scene, marked "COLTS PATENT" next to the partial serial number "8829". The complete matching serial number is marked on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and back strap, with the partial serial number "78829" on the wedge, "8829" on the cylinder pin and the loading lever is unmarked. Fitted with a smooth varnished walnut grip.

Condition: Fine. The barrel retains 40% plus original blue finish (strongest on the underside) with the balance a gray patina. There are several dings on the right side of the lug around the wedge. The cylinder has a smooth brownish gray patina with most of the scene visible. The frame has shadows of faint case colors with the balance a smooth gray patina and the loading lever has a smooth brown-gray patina. There is some minor flash pitting. The back strap and trigger guard retain 50% of the original silver plating, with an aged patina on the exposed brass. The grip is very good with 6 notches on the lower edge of the right side, chipped toes and some minor dings and scratches overall. Clear markings. Mechanically fine.
