Factory Cased Colt Model 1849 Pocket revolver manufactured in 1860. The revolver has a blue barrel and cylinder, casehardened loading lever, frame and hammer and silver-plated brass trigger guard and back strap with one-piece ivory grip. The five-shot cylinder is roll-engraved with the Stage Coach Holdup scene and "COLTS PATENT". The barrel is roll-stamped "-ADDRESS SAML COLT/HARTFORD CT.-" in two lines. "COLTS/PATENT" is stamped in two-lines on the left side of the frame. A small "G" Colt inspection mark is stamped on the left shoulder of the trigger guard and "S" is stamped on the left side of the trigger guard bow. The full serial number "183093" is stamped on the bottom of the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard and back strap and on the side of the cylinder. The loading lever is stamped with the partial serial number "3093". All of the visible serial numbers match. The mahogany case is lined with dark blue velvet and has five compartments. The case contains: (1) 100 cap japanned tin of Eley Bros., percussion caps with green paper label, (2) blue iron .31 caliber double cavity bullet mold roll-stamped "COLT'S/PATENT" on the spru cutter, (3) Eagle and Shield pattern powder flask with fixed charger; both sides of the flask are embossed with the Eagle and Shield motif beneath a double row of stars and above crossed revolvers and a ribbon with the motto "E. PLURIBUS.UNUM", and (4) assortment of .31 caliber lead balls and conical bullets.

Condition: Fine. The barrel and cylinder retain 60% of the original blue finish. The cylinder has most of the Stage Coach Holdup scene intact, the safety pins are not battered and the percussion nipples show minimal flash pitting. The loading lever, receiver and hammer have 40% of the dark color casehardened finish. The trigger guard and back strap retain nearly 90% of the silver-plated finish. The ivory grip has a mellow patina. The left side of the grip has a repaired crack that runs the length of the grip. All of the markings are crisp and the action is tight and functions well. The case exterior is very good; the lid has two hairline cracks with several dents and water stains. The interior is good. The blue velvet lining is dark and clean; there are several discolored spots from contact with the revolver cylinder and muzzle. The cap tin contains some percussion caps and retains 80% of the green paper label and black japanned finish. The bullet mold is very good with 85% of the original blue finish remining. The powder flask is very good with 80% of the brown finish on the body. The brass top and charge are tarnished. This is an attractive factory cased Colt Model 1849 Pocket revolver with ivory grip.
