This is an excellent example of a U.S. Remington Zouave percussion rilfe. The rifle is equipped with blade front and 3-leaf rear sights. The chamber is dated "1863" and marked with "V/P" proofs and "STEEL R.K.A." The eagle marked lock plate is also dated "1863" and is marked "REMINGTON'S/ILION, N.Y." and "L" ahead of the hammer. The rifle has a tulip-head ramrod, brass barrel bands marked "U", "L" marked brass patchbox and trigger guard and "U.S/L" marked brass uttplate. The stock has clear "HDJ" and "VH" cartouches on the left flat. Also included is a brass and hardwood tampion, spare nipple, ball extractor and patches.

Condition: Excellent, with 98% of the original blue finish, showing a brown patina around the nipple and a few small handling marks overall. The case colors are 97% intact, bright and vivid, with a minor amount of silvering on the edges. Areas of brown patina are visible on the brass components. The stock is excellent plus, with a few mild dents and handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
