Manufactured from 1861 to 1874. The top of the barrel rib is marked "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS.", the cylinder is marked with the 1855, 59 and 60 patent dates, the serial number is marked on the butt and the inside of the right grip panel is stamped "12503". Blue finish with casehardened hammer and trigger, blade front and notch rear sights, and fitted with smooth varnished rosewood grips.

Condition: Very fine. The revolver retains 75% plus original bright blue finish with scattered spotting, and a smooth gray patina on the back strap. The grips are excellent with 98% original varnish, some mild lower edge wear and a few minor dings. The markings are clear. The action is excellent. Overall an early Civil War range number 2 army in very fine condition.
