Fantastic Cased Presentation Grade Factory Engraved Gold & Silver Remington Over Under Double Barrel
This is an example of a factory engraved Type II, or Model Number 3, derringer manufactured from 1888 to 1911. The derringer has the manual extractor and is marked "REMINGTON ARMS CO., ILION, N.Y." on the barrel rib. As stated this derringer features factory engraving. The sides of both barrels have scroll engraving with a star burst pattern around the hinge. The sides of the frame are adorned with a scroll engraving on a punch dot background with wedges of scrollwork on the backstrap between an engraved wavy line border. Matching serial number on the frame and barrels. Gold washed barrels, silver plated frame with remaining surfaces niter blue. Fitted with pearl grips. Complete with a leather bound wooden case with fitted chamois lining. The interior of the lid is retailer marked in gold marked text "J.B. CROOK & CO. / GUNS & PISTOLS / 1180 BROADWAY, N.Y.". The case has a cartridge block for 27 rounds (27 cartridges are included). This is very unusual as this type of "trophy" type engraved, gold, and silver treatment by the factory was usually reserved for larger frame presentation pieces. It is very seldom found on small frame pistols.
