Factory engraved and silver plated Moore derringer and original to the period inscribed, “R.C. Dawkins, Col. 6th Kentucky infantry” with typical Nimschke or New York style engraving with script inscription.Accompanied by his sword sash, original commissions, and other Civil War papers. Dawkins was a fighting officer who distinguished himself a Shiloh, Stone Mountain and Chickamauga. S/N 1739. Nearlyall the old silver plate remains with minor loss and tarnish. The hammer finish has mostly flaked. Sharp with good markings. Very few Civil War inscribed cartridge derringers are known. (Antique) Est.: $2500-$5000
