Factory Engraved Merwin Hulbert & Co. Third Model Pocket Army Double Action Revolver with Ivory Grip
The revolver has the 3rd Model round barrel with top strap and full fluted cylinder and has the "Pocket Army' bird's head butt with pointed extension and lanyard hole. The revolver is almost fully engraved with the distinctive punch dot style associated with Merwin. The left rear of the frame also features a deer in a square panel. The hammer, trigger guard, trigger and barrel latch have a casehardened finish. The left side of the barrel is marked with the two line Hopkins and Allen address / patent dates, "CALIBRE / WINCHESTER 1873" is located on the left side of the frame below the cylinder and "MERWIN HULBERT & CO. N.Y. / POCKET ARMY" is stamped on the right side of the frame below the cylinder. The serial number is stamped on the right side of the grip extension. The revolver is fitted with factory ivory grips.

Condition: Fine. The revolver retains 50% of the original nickel finish with the exposed areas having an untouched brown patina. The backstrap has some moderate oxidation and there is some minor oxidation on the cylinder. The grips are very good with some high point wear, a few age cracks on both panels and have aged to an attractive mellow caramel patina. The frame markings are beginning to fade, otherwise the markings and engraving are clear. The action is fine but is slightly loose.
