Manufactured in 1863. The revolver features factory floral scroll engraving on the upper rear flat and sides of the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard and back strap. The sides of the hammer have a wolf's head, as well as floral scroll engraving. The top barrel flat is marked with the one line New York U.S. America address in a scalloped border panel, the left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT" and the upper left side of the trigger guard bow is marked "36 CAL". The cylinder is roll engraved with the stagecoach hold-up scene and marked "COLTS PATENT/No 0000". The complete matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard and back strap with "IE" stamped above or below each number. The "I" designates factory ivory grips and the "E" factory engraving. The wedge and cylinder pin are stamped with the partial serial number "0000". The barrel and cylinder were blue, casehardened frame and hammer, and the back strap and trigger guard silver plated. Brass post front, hammer notch rear sights and fitted with a one-piece smooth ivory grip. Comes with a one-piece walnut grip numbered to the gun.

Good. The metal surfaces have a grayish brown patina with some minor pitting on the cylinder and barrel lug. The trigger guard retains strong age darkened original silver plating in protected areas with a pleasant aged patina on the remaining brass surfaces. The cylinder scene is 60% visible. The oversized replacement grip is fine with a pleasant aged patina and attractive grain. The markings and engraving are clear. The action is fine. The walnut grip is fair with wear on the bottom edges, and scuffs, scratches and dents.
