Thomas (Tommy) Singer (born 1940 - May 31, 2014)
He is one of the most regarded silversmiths in Navajo history having created the ‘CHIP INLAY’ an intricate use of turquoise and coral chips integrated in to the silver work. This method made Mr. Singer famous world around in the 60’s. He is known for his overlay work, storyteller pieces, rug patterns and traditional motifs.
21" Sterling silver necklace with inlay sun face designed out of coral, mother-of-pearl, turquoise, lapis, jet and/or onyx. The center focal sun face is accented by an inlaid leaf that is done in yellow mother-of-pearl, coral, jet and/or Onyx. Behind each leaf is three Sterling pieces that are in a blanket pattern design, the piece hangs on a ring and connector .925 chain, with a lobster claw closure. The center sun face is approximately 12.9 mm in diameter, the leaves are approximately 15.3 mm x 7.9 mm, each Sterling piece measures approximately 32.2 mm x 5.7 mm, the necklace weighs 14.3 g and the three main pieces are stamped with the artist initials FSH. The lobster claw is stamped .925. NOTE: all measurements do not include the silver work around the sun face and the leaf.
