Thomas (Tommy) Singer (born 1940 - May 31, 2014)
He is one of the most regarded silversmiths in Navajo history having created the ‘CHIP INLAY’ an intricate use of turquoise and coral chips integrated in to the silver work. This method made Mr. Singer famous world around in the 60’s. He is known for his overlay work, storyteller pieces, rug patterns and traditional motifs.
6 inch to 7 1/4 inch Sterling silver bracelet has a center focal point of an inlay sun face done in coral, mother-of-pearl, turquoise, lapis, jet and/or Onyx. On each side of the sun face, is an inlaid leaf that is done in yellow mother-of-pearl, coral, jet and/or Onyx. Beside each leaf is a Sterling silver piece that is done in a blanket pattern design. Bracelet has a ring and connector chain that makes this an adjustable bracelet and closes with a lobster claw closure. The sun face is approximately 13 mm in diameter, the leaves are approximately 7.3 mm x 16 mm, the Sterling pieces measure approximately 24.3 mm x 7.6 mm and the bracelet weighs 8.9 g. The sun face the two leaves and one of the Sterling pieces is stamped with the artist initials FSH, the lobster claw his stamped .925.
