Cal. 32 RF. S# 6087. Bbl. 24" matching numbered oct. having combination fine & regular front bead sight plus sporting elevator adjustable rear; lollipop style large disc peep sight on tang. Mfg. 1859 to about 1863 or 1864 as first type having rounded iron frame w/ integral forend; total production 1859-1888 of all models was about 35,000 units. Rear of bbl. has curved edges to allow finger removal of cartridges; made w/ out extractor. Right side of frame has link to limit bbl. opening; left side has circular side plate matching frame profile. Decorative cast trigger guard & corresponding crescent shaped buttplate; toe line is distinctively flat (common to Sporter models). Matching numbers on frame, bbl., bbl. latch & trigger guard. Frame & buttplate are nickel plated; balance blued to include screws. Most made in 44 cal. w/ 22 acknowledged; references state "possibly" made in 32 & 38 caliber; all rimfire. Collection of features & caliber makes this Sporting rifle a very rare example. CONDITION: about very good overall having typical spotty oxidation on plating along w/ some flaking by side plate. Good to very good bbl. finish beginning to turn patina. Very good stock appearance having handling marks & extra directly applied finish (no dimensional changes). Fair worn & pitted bore w/ dark appearance. (01-22673/NW). ANTIQUE. $400-600.
