“Fire Zouaves” was the nickname for the 11th New York Volunteer Infantry in the American Civil War.
They were famous firemen from New York City who wore flashy Zouave-style uniforms and fought early in the war.
The “Fire Zouaves” name is often what shows up on Civil War memorabilia, badges, and decorative items.

“Zouaves” originally refers to French North African light infantry units, whose distinctive uniforms inspired many Civil War regiments in the U.S.

“Barnum pewter” connection

“Barnum” in collectibles usually refers to P.T. Barnum, the 19th-century showman (Barnum & Bailey circus era).
In the antique/collectible world, “Barnum pewter” typically points to decorative pewter figurines or souvenir-style items associated with circus or Civil War nostalgia themes, sometimes marketed in the late 19th–20th century revival collecting market.
There isn’t a single famous official “Barnum Fire Zouaves pewter” product—more often it’s a collectible figurine or plaque inspired by Fire Zouaves imagery and sold in the Barnum-style souvenir tradition.
