From 1895 to 1903 a number of "US" marked Single Action Army revolvers, like this one, were returned to either the Colt factory or (this example) Springfield Armory where they were modified (to 5 1/2 inch barrel length), dismantled and refinished, often with little regard to which gun the refinished parts came from, resulting in a mix of serial numbers and markings. This revolver has a 5 1/2 inch barrel, casehardened frame and hammer and blue remaining parts. The serial numbers are mixed on these altered models and they were remarked by inspectors of the era. This revolver is serial numbered "2419" on the frame, "115863" over a "G" on the trigger guard, "95/690/G" on the back strap and the cylinder is un-numbered. It bears the standard one line address on top of the barrel and the two line, two patent date marking on the left side of the frame followed by "U.S.". The loading gate has the assembly number "819". It has the standard blade front and frame notch rear sights and is fitted with the correct smooth one-piece walnut grip with "1884/Fit" in an oval cartouche on the left side and a lightly visible "DFC" cartouche on the right.
BBL: 5 1/2 inch round

Condition: Very fine as arsenal refurbished. The revolver retains 70% of the correct arsenal/factory refurbished blue finish with the balance a smooth brown and gray patina. The barrel address is light due to polishing and the remaining markings are clear. The action is excellent.
