This is an exceptional example of a well documented Springfield M1903 National Match Rifle. Fixed front sight, ladder rear sight with 2,850 yard notch, marked on the muzzle with a star and the barrel is marked "S A/flaming bomb/5-36". The bright polished bolt is electropenciled to match the gun and is marked "N.S." on the top flat at the base of the knob. Mounted on a smooth walnut pistol grip stock with boxed "S.A./S.P.G." cartouche, circled "P" cartouche, sling swivels and a checkered steel buttplate with trapdoor (empty). With a model 1921 muzzle/front sight cover, a small "P.J.O'HARE/N.J." marked rear sight cover and a large frame containing order approval letter, star gauge record, shipping tickets and a "Railway Express Agency" shipping receipt. The approval letter and shipping tickets show that a Rock Island Arsenal 1903 serial number 20,995 was exchanged for the current receiver and was barreled with a National Match barrel.
