One of the finest examples of an Anna Pottery Stoneware Pig Flask with a Presentation to a Rail Road Engineer in 1882. The incised Mississippi River runs from below the chin on the right side to the top of his back and down to his rear. The river is identified by incised "Miss River" with the Eads Bridge crossing the Mississippi a cobalt blue dot marks the location of St. Louis, where inscribed reads "St. Louis the Future Great" referring to the push to move the Nations Capitol from Washington, D.C. to St. Louis in a more central location to the nation. The right side has the beautiful handwriting on Cornwall Kirkpatrick and features the following: "A.B.J.& V. M Caulrauz /Engineer on 82 W. St.L&P.R.W. /Compliments of I.A. McKinney/ 1882." The right side of the pig host one of the finest railroad and river guides that Anna Pigs are known for incised are the following railroads: C.A. & St. L. R.R., C.B.I.C.R.R, O. & M. R.R. W St. L & P R.R. The following towns are listed Chester, Alton, Grand Tourer, Jonesburo, Anna Carbondale, DuQuoin, Tamorau, Centrailia, Odin, Vincenus. Tunnel Hill is located on the hind leg with a small whole resembling the tunnel. In Kirkpatrick fashion towns they obviously despised were placed in vulgar locations such as Mound City on the testicles and "Cairo the" and points to the rear end of the hog. The underbelly of the pig is incised with "CINCINATTI the Pork City", under the chin is incised with "Chicago the Corn City". H 3 1/2", L 8", W 2 3/4"
