This is just another beautiful, super rare Luger pistol rig we have to offer for sale in this auction. These were actually produced in the 1930-1934 time frame shortly after the completion of the Stoeger Luger contracts in which these were made by using both left over parts from the earlier DWM manufacturing combined with new manufactured Mauser parts, after all Luger production was moved to the Mauser factory in 1934. These specific Lugers all fall into a specific serial number block numbered all with a "v" suffix. They are a very rare early commercial Luger and are described on pages, 258-290 of book "Weimar and Early Nazi Lugers" by Jan Still. This example has the correct mixed high polished blued on some parts mixed with the earlier almost flat rust blued finish on others. It has a blank chamber with a earlier "DWM" toggle marking. It has a "Crown/U" Commercial proof on the left side of the barrel extension, the underside of the barrel and breech block. The parts are numbered in the Commercial manner, with the full serial number (686v) on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel, with the last two digits of the serial number hidden on the smaller parts. Unusual as it may seem this model has a mostly complete magazine and sear safety with the tip of the magazine safety clipped off. This rare pistol is complete with two magazines, one WWI era nickel plated, wooden base version stamped "1/686" with the second magazine being a nickel plated version, with an aluminum base stamped "2/686/early Eagle proof". This excellent early example is complete with an early unmarked black police style leather holster that is stamped with matching number "686" on the back side.
BBL: 3 7/8 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 686v

The grips are in almost like new condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides, with no visible handling marks. The holster is very fine with tight stitching and only a couple very minor handling marks anywhere. Just a super example of an early all original 1934 era Mauser/Oberndorf Luger rig.
