Extra fine exhibition quality J.P. Sauer & Son, 12 gauge pre-war double barrel exposed hammer shotgun in its original case remaining in fine to near excellent original condition, serial number 162962. The side plates and action are beautifully banknote scroll engraved with floral accents and show a gold inlay of game birds at center portion of frame and intertwined gold initials on trigger guard. The barrels are marked special steel and Krupp in German. The barrels measure 30” in length and are choked modified right and extra full left. The length of pull is 14 ¼” from the trigger to the end of the butt with a 2” drop at the heel and 1 ½” drop at the comb. The wall thickness measures .25 left and .31 right. The gun remains in fine to excellent original condition with 96% to 99% original bright blue and case hardening with just some minor handling and possible slight use. The gun is stocked in select Burl Walnut with a fiddle back grain and extra fancy checkering. The stock shows inlays behind the lock and a very fine horn carved skeleton butt plate with checkered wood inset panel. The gun is contained within its original to the period green felt lined case with label in the lid and is constructed of leather over oak with brass mounts also canvas and leather cover.
