The left side of the receiver is marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A./SOLE MANUFACTURERS AND AGENTS/US", "THE LEE ARMS Co. BRIDGEPORT, CONN. U.S.A./PATENTED NOV. 4TH 1879" is marked on top of the left receiver rail, both markings are faint. "U.S." and "V/P" are marked on the left rear of the barrel. The rear sight is stamped "R L" on the left side. The unique unfinished detachable magazine is unmarked and there is a replacement cocking mechanism. Mounted with a full straight grip walnut stock with two barrel bands, steel forend cap and carbine style buttplate. The cleaning rod is absent.

Condition: Very good for a prototype. The metal surfaces have a smooth brownish patina. The top rear of the receiver shows some blue finish and some case colors. The stock is very good with some finish loss and some scattered minor dents and scratches. The rear barrel band is absent. The magazine spring, middle barrel band and follower are absent. Mechanically needs work, discharges when the bolt is pushed back in.
