This is just an outstanding rare grouping of Luger pistols which contain "three consecutively serial numbered" 1935/06 Portuguese lugers pistols. This rare grouping of Commercial contract luger pistols would certainly make a beautiful center piece in any advanced luger collection in and of themselves. There were a total of exactly 564 "GNR" marked Mauser Banner luger pistols produced under contract to the Government of Portugal in 1935/36. These pistols were produced in a specific serial number range from 1921v to 2848v, which puts all three of these pistols (serial number 1974, 1975 and 1976) in the early part of the production run. These lugers were unheard of in the collector market, until 15-18 years ago when the entire group was purchased from the Government of Portugal and imported in to the U.S.. This was one of the last luger commercial contracts produced by the Mauser factory before German started invading Europe, which stopped the Mauser factory from completing any additional commercial contracts for military type pistols and rifles. The top of the chamber area is marked with the intertwined Portuguese, "GNR" mark that stands for (GARDE NATIONALE REPUBLICANE) markings on the chamber with the desirable Mauser "Banner" logo on the front toggle link. The lower safety lever area of the frame is marked: "SEGURANCA". The left side of the extractor is marked: "CARREGADA". The Oberndorf "Crown/U" proof is stamped on the underside of the barrel and on the left side of the receiver and breech block. It is serial numbered in the traditional commercial manner with the full serial number, "1974v" located on the frame, barrel and barrel extension, with the last two digits of the serial number on the various small parts. It is fitted with a set of nicely checkered walnut grips with a nickel plated, Haenel Schmeisser marked magazine with an unmarked aluminum base.
