Anna Pottery is well know for their whimsical frog mugs the feature a pearched frog sitting in the base, meant to amuse the person drinking from the mug. Incised on the mug in cobalt blue is "St. louis Sinkhole Quail" dated 1888" (The last digit is difficult to read as there is a glaze pop there). The last digit of the date is hard to read due to a glaze pop the caused a chip in the mug leaving the date unknown. The frog pearched in the base is in perfect condition with a beautiful yellow mustard color glaze. Salt glaze frog mugs are very rare as there are only a handful of them know generally the frog mugs are made with Albany glaze. H 2 3/4", W 4 1/2", H 3 1/4"
