Condition: Excellent overall, the stock itself shows the natural walnut color overall with dark staining and blotching at the rear of the stock and around the hinge area with minor pressure dents, dings and scratching from field use. The steel hinge and attaching iron retain traces of their original blued finish, mostly in the protected areas. The stock itself and attaching iron are unproofed and the attaching iron is numbered 688. The leather harness is in the best condition compared to all other extant WWI harneses. There is some staining or flaking of the surface of the leather, with all the age cracking of the flap on the front pouch. The markings on the back are clear and the stitching is tight overall with the cleaning rod in very good plus condition.
