Stevens manufactured approximately 2,500 of these No. 40 1/2 Pocket Rifles from 1896 to 1915. It is equipped with a fold down combination globe front sight, two folding leaf Lyman rear sight and a matching number (last two digits, "10") peep sight mounted on the back strap. The upper left barrel flat ahead of the rear sight is marked "J. STEVENS A. & T. CO./CHICOPEE FALLS MASS. U.S.A.". The matching serial number is marked on the barrel and butt. The frame is nickel plated and the remaining parts are blue. Smooth two piece grips. Complete with the original matching nickel plated wire stock, a pebble grain leather carrying case and a three piece Marble's cleaning rod in the original fabric pouch.

Condition: Excellent. The barrel retains 80% thin original blue finish mixed with brown patina. There is some minor surface corrosion present on the right side of the barrel. The frame retains 99% bright original nickel finish and almost all of the original bright niter blue finish remains on the hammer and trigger. The grips are excellent with a few minor dings and 99% plus original varnish. The stock is excellent. The carrying case is fair with some open stitching, a few tears and some heavy wear.
