Exceptional Pre-War Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Original Box and Test Target

This is an example of a Colt Single Action Army revolver that was manufactured in 1933. The revolver has a commercial blue barrel, ejector housing cylinder, trigger guard and back strap, casehardened hammer, frame and loading gate and two piece black checkered grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top. The ejector rod has the oval head and the hammer spur has borderless knurling. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped "COLT'S P.T. F.A. MFG. Co HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." and the left side is roll-stamped "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY 38 SPECIAL". The left side of the frame is roll-stamped with the Colt two line, three patent date marking followed by the Rampant Colt. The left front of the trigger guard bow is stamped with a "3" assembler's mark above the Colt "triangle/VP" proofmark. The assembly number "213" is stamped on the inside of the loading gate. The matching serial number, "354998" is stamped on the bottom of the frame and on the right side of the trigger guard and back strap underneath the grips. "354998" is scratched on the inside of both grips. The revolver is complete with the original purple cardboard box. The serial number, "354998" is written in grease pencil on the bottom of the box. The box has a blue and white end label that gives the barrel length 5 1/2", the model ("COLT'S ARMY S.A. REVOLVER".), grip style and finish "RUBBER BLUE" and the caliber .38". Included in the box is the original test target serial numbered to the revolver and "Shooting Suggestions" pamphlet.

Manufucture: Colt
Model: Single Action Army
BBL: 5 1/2 inch round
Stock:
Guage: 38 Colt Special
Finish: blue/casehardened
Grips: hard rubber
Serial Number: 354998

Excellent plus. The revolver has been fired but shows minimal handling and storage wear and retains 99% of the original blue and casehardened finish. The cylinder has only very faint drag lines. The frame, hammer, and loading gate have fiery case colors. The screws and trigger have nearly all the niter blue finish intact. The grips are nearly new. The exterior of the box is fair with torn and broken edges and tape reinforcements on the inside. The box end label is very good. The test target is very good. This is an outstanding example of a pre-war Colt Single Action Army revolver in nearly new condition with original test target and box.
