Manufactured circa 1863 to 1873. These revolvers were originally manufactured as a percussion revolver with later/ subsequent production as metallic cartridge, with an estimated few thousand made. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, NEW YORK, U.S.A./NEW-MODEL" and the matching serial number is marked on the left side of frame under the grip and on the bottom barrel flat, (1 upsidedown). Condition: Excellent. The revolver retains 90% original blue finish with areas of smooth gray and plum patina. The frame and trigger guard retain 90% plus original silver finish with darkening with age and flaking on the edges ahead of the cylinder. The ivory grips are excellent with an attractive grain and mellow patina. The "out of time" action functions, but it does not always lock up in double action. (This explains the extraordinary condition of the revolver!). The markings are crisp and clear. If you desire this model of Remington revolver for your collection, here it is!
