This is an exceptional example of an early production Colt Ace .22 Automatic Pistol in the original box. The pistol has the Colt pre-war high polish blue finish and is fitted with standard full checkered oil-finished walnut grips. The barrel is blue with a polished chamber top. The magazine has a two-tone finish. The slide has the standard Partridge adjustable rear sight and half-moon front sight. The pistol has a milled trigger with checkered face, long spur hammer, and checkered mainspring housing with no lanyard loop. The serial number, "2132" is located on the right side of the frame behind the slide stop hole. The assembler's mark "8" is stamped on the left side of the trigger guard bow above the Colt "Triangle/VP" proofmark. "R" is stamped on the top of the frame to the right of the disconnector hole. The right side of the slide is roll-stamped: "COLT" followed by "ACE" surrounded by a diamond border and .22 LONG/RIFLE". The left side of the frame is roll-stamped with the elongated two-line Colt Hartford address and 1897-1913 patent dates followed by the Rampant Colt trademark. The magazine floorplate is roll-stamped: "COLT" above "ACE"/diamond and "22LR." in three lines. The pistol is complete with the original carton with purple exterior and blue and white end label. The pistol serial number "2132" is written in grease pencil on the bottom of the carton. The inside of the carton lid is printed with English/Spanish Colt advertising and the inside of the carton bottom is printed with the Colt patent information. Included with the carton is a five-shot test target stamped with a form that identifies the pistol model ("Ace"), serial number ("2132"), number of shots ("5") and the range ("15"). The responses are marked in pencil and signed by "JM Malloy". Also included in the carton are the instruction sheet, "Special Instructions" leaflet and the original tissue wrapping.
