A spectacular conversion performed in the 1870s, factory conversions consisted of plugging the loading lever hole, installing an ejector, milling down the cylinder to accept a breech plate (third model, in this case) with loading gate, and mounting a center fire pin on the hammer. German silver blade front and hammer notch rear sight, with the one line New York address atop the barrel, the "Two July" patent markings on the left side of the frame, and "36 CAL" on the left side of the trigger guard. The Texas Navy roll-engraved cylinder is numbered "566/ 306", with the loading gate, barrel and grip straps numbered to match the frame. Fitted with smooth one-piece grips.
