Excellent original oil painting on artist board signed lower left O. Weighorst with 2C brand. The painting portrays an Indian warrior on his mount in the Western Desert holding a rifle and wearing a cartridge belt. The painting measures 14” x 11 1/2” and is beautifully framed. Our associate Frank Semmo was a close friend to Olaf Weighorst and sold hundreds of his artworks beginning in the 1960s. We believe that Mr. Semmo knew Olaf Weighorst work as well as any individual and he stated to this cataloger “that this was a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10 and among the very best of his later works at the height of his career”. We sold this artwork approximately a decade ago to Keith and Lori Candee who kept it in their home and collection until this offering at auction. A rare opportunity to obtain a great subject and prime example of one of the greatest Western artist’s works. Est.: $15,000-$30,000.
