This Colt Model 1911A1 Automatic Pistol was manufactured by Colt Firearms and shipped to Springfield Armory between December 30, 1943 and January 5, 1944. The pistol has a gray-green parkerized finish, blued barrel and brown, "Coltwood", checkered, stocks. The feed ramp is bright. The barrel is blued and stamped: "COLT 45 AUTO" on the lower left side of the chamber and "P" on the left side of the barrel lug. The full blue magazine is stamped "R" (Risdon Mfg. Co.,) on the top of the floor plate lip. The stocks have wide reinforcing rings around the screws and interior strengthening rib and mold numbers. The trigger is stamped with a knurled face. The slide stop, safety lock and mainspring housing are checkered. The wide spur hammer has a bordered knurling. The right side of the receiver has the Ordnance escutcheon stamped behind the stock. "UNITED STATES PROPERTY/No. 1155210" is roll-stamped in two lines behind the slide stop hole. "M1911A1 U.S.ARMY" is roll stamped in front of the slide stop hole. The left side of the trigger guard is stamped with a "K" assembly mark over the Colt Triangle "V/P" proofmark. The Ordnance final inspection mark "G.H.D.", is stamped below the slide stop and a "P" proofmark is stamped behind the magazine release. The slide has the mid-late WWII production front sight blade with serrated face and is correctly not serial numbered. The top of the slide is stamped with a "P" proofmark between the rear sight and the ejection port. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the Colt 1897-1913 patent dates in a two-line block, the Rampant Colt trademark and "COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." in two lines.
