This is an excellent example of a early 1940 production Mauser military contract Luger Pistol. This specific Luger still has the full chamber date of 1940 with the wartime "42" code for the Mauser factory, before they switched to the "byf" markings. The barrel extension has the early "eagle/655" Waffenamt next to the single eagle firing proof with both of those proofs also located on the rear left and right side of the barrel. This luger has the full serial number, (9489) stamped on the major components with the last two digits (89) on the various smaller parts. This model has the standard inverted "v" front sight with the fixed rear sight and the standard safety and extractor markings. This luger is accompanied by two original WWII blued steel magazines with aluminum bases that are numbered on the bottom: "9489/v/Eagle 63" (renumbered to match gun) and "1215/q/Eagle 63" respectively. This pistol is complete with a 1942 dated Police Luger holster that is marked on the back "OTTO SINDEL/BERLIN/1942".
BBL: 3 7/8 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 9489e
Condition: Excellent overall with 95% of the original blue finish with even wear overall and blue loss on the edges and high spots with a discolored, but original side plate. The grip straps have light surface rust. The grips are excellent with nice distinct checkering. The holster is very good overall with a nice appearance to the leather, which has been redyed and polished a long time ago and has taken on a very nice appearance. The stitching is tight overall with clear sharp markings on the back with the take down tool pouch removed. The pistol has matching numbers except the two magazines noted above. A nice example of a WWII P.08 Luger pistol.
