This is an exceptional example of a 2nd variation ac/41 code P38 pistol, which miraculously retains both of its original matching serialized magazines. The left side of the slide is marked "P.38" next to "ac/41" and then the serial number. The right side of the slide has a single eagle firing proof flanked by two "eagle/359" acceptance proofs of the Walther factory. The complete matching serial number is marked on the slide, left side of the frame and on the front of the barrel lug. The locking lug is marked "709" on the bottom, the number "1" and eagle firing proof on the left side and the "eagle/359" proof on the right side. The left side of the barrel lug is marked with the bore dimension "8,83" and the right side is marked with a circled "B", "55" and the "eagle/359" proof. The "eagle/359" proof is also marked on the takedown lever, slide stop, thumb safety, trigger, hammer, trigger bar and top of the slide ahead of the rear sight. The pistol comes with two blue magazines, both of which are correctly numbered "2709g" on the bottom of the floor plate, marked "P.38" on the lower left side and marked with the "eagle/359" proof on the lower spine. Fitted with brown ribbed Bakelite grips with a lanyard loop on the lower left side. Complete with a black leather marked "P38" on the back behind the belt loops and "eagle/swastika / WaA383 / bmo 41" between the loops. The inside of the flap is ink stamped "287".
BBL: 4 7/8 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm
Finish: blue
Grips: bakelite
Serial Number: 2709g
Condition: Excellent. The pistol retains 98% plus original high polish blue finish with some minor wear on the muzzle and front edges of the slide. There are a few tiny areas of flaking on the front strap. The grips are also excellent with only a few very minor dings. Mechanically excellent. The holster is excellent with a few light scuffs and tight stitching. Writer cannot recall ever offing as fine of an example as this AC41 P38 rig.
