This is an exceptionally nice example of an original and unaltered 1914 pattern DWM Artillery Luger that is dated 1918. This Artillery Luger rig is complete with the original matching walnut shoulder stock and an original brown leather holster. The top of the chamber is dated 1918 with the "DWM" monogram on the front toggle. The right side of the chamber has the three "crown/gothic letter" proofs next to the Imperial Eagle firing proof, which is repeated on the barrel. It has the full serial number (4808) on the front of the frame, left side of the barrel extension, underside of the barrel and on top of the stock attaching iron, with the last two digits of the serial number (08) on the various small parts. The extractor and safety are correctly marked; "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" and it has the standard front sight with the Artillery style tangent rear sight that is graduated from 1-8 (100-800) meters. The holster is complete with an unmarked artillery style cleaning rod and an unmarked takedown tool. The luger pistol is complete with one unmarked, nickel plated, wooden base magazine.
BBL: 8 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue/straw colors
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 4808
Condition: Excellent with 90% plus of the original rust blued finish overall with the center section and underside of the barrel showing an old arsenal/professionally restored rust blue finish. The various small parts retain 50% of their straw colored small parts. The walnut grips are in excellent condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides with minor wear along the front and rear edges. The stock is in very fine condition overall showing a nice light honey brown color overall with an excellent stock proof with minor handling marks on both sides with a couple of areas showing slightly heavier marks that are directly under the area of the holster strap loops. The stock iron retains 95% of its original rust blued finish with nice sharp screw heads. The brown leather holster is very good overall with nice tight stitching overall, with the front portion showing a very old brown redying or repolishing that now gives it a very nice old aged appearance. The front of the holster shows some minor age cracking and very light scuffs in a couple of places. The Luger pistol itself has all matching visible numbers except the magazine and grips both of which are unnumbered. A very nice example of an original WWI Artillery Luger rig.
