Produced in 1941, shortly before the high polish blue finish and checkered walnut grips were phased out in favor of the matte parkerized finish and plastic grips, which were expected to speed production while increasing resistance to the elements. Additionally, this was during the 1941-1942 tenure of Col Robert Seers of the Hartford Ordnance district. Fixed sights, with the two line/ two block patent and address markings on the left side, "P" on top and matching number around the firing pin. Frame is marked with Col. Sears' "R.S." cartouche, with "P" by the magazine catch, "T/ VP" and "60" on the trigger guard, "G" under the slide and "UNITED STATES PROPERTY M1911A1 U.S ARMY" on the right side over the serial number. Equipped with a Colt barrel, checkered wide hammer, slide catch, thumb safety, trigger and arched mainspring housing, checkered walnut grips and full blue "COLT/ .45 AUTO." magazine. The inspector cartouche is double stamped.
