Switzerland was the first country to adopt the Luger as a military sidearm, and once WWI started DWM could no longer supply Switzerland with Lugers so the Swiss firm of Waffenfabrik Bern produced its own version of the Model 1906. This pistol is one of the Swiss manufactured copies of the German Model 1906. Approximately 17,000 of these pistols were manufactured for the Swiss military and were most likely produced between 1918 and 1933. It has a blank chamber with the toggle marked with a "Swiss cross/WAFFENFABRIK/BERN". The left side of the barrel extension has a small Geneva Cross and the right side has a small "+/M" marking. A small Geneva Cross is present on the barrel, barrel extension, toggle and frame. The grips are the unique checkered variation with smooth borders. The magazine is marked with a "P" on the lower back edge and is a bright metal finish with a walnut base. The numbered parts have the matching serial numbers.
