Originally introduced in 1905 and rebranded in 1911, the Model 11 is John Browning's automatic shotgun, which he personally considered one of his best designs. Single nickel bead sight on the vent rib, with cylinder choke, 2 3/4" chamber, standard markings on the left side, and "SKEET" near the breech. The bolt is properly marked "THE/ SPORTSMAN", with a rolled scene of a pheasant in a field on the right side and a duck in flight over a marsh on the left. High grade walnut stock, with checkering on the beavertail forearm and pistol grip, Remington grip cap with Fleur-de-Lis designs, 14" pull and a serrated Remington buttplate.
BBL: 26 inch vent rib
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 12
Finish: blue
Grips:
Serial Number: 420026
Condition: Excellent, 99% plus original blue, showing only a very few collectors handling type blemishes. Wood is unusually spectacular for the standard Sportsman Model. The stock wood on this Sportsman could easily be put on a Premier Grade shotgun. It seems that Mr. Tipton was very particular about the wood on shotguns worthy of his collection. Mechanically excellent.
