Manufactured in 1927, this is 1 of only 155 Grade 5 New Ithaca Double shotguns manufactured. This shotgun features double ivory bead sights on the matte vent rib, 2 3/4 inch chambers, chokes gauge at improved cylinder/skeet, with ejectors. The bottom of the barrels are marked "BEST FLUID STEEL" and with two "crown/D" manufacturing marks for canons Delcour SA in Belgium. The barrel flats are jeweled and marked with the matching serial number and "5". The barrels and trigger guard are blue, gold trigger and casehardened remaining parts. The action has the Grade 5 floral scroll engraving with a silver pheasant in a wooded scene on the left side and a silver woodcock in a wooded scene on the right side. The underside has a wing, eagle and arrows motif over "MADE IN USA" in a panel over "ITHACA GUN CO ITHACA N.Y." in a panel. The water table is marked with the serial number and "PAT'D" on the right and "5" on the left. The serial number is also marked on the lower tang. Cocking indicators, tang mounted safety/selector and mounted with nicely figured checkered walnut beavertail forearm and pistol grip stock with horn grip cap, professionally installed Old English recoil pad and gold initial oval. Length of pull is 14 3/8 inches, drop at comb 1 1/2 inches and drop at heel 1 1/2 inches.

Condition: Excellent. The barrels retain 97% plus original blue finish and the trigger guard retains 90% original blue finish with some thinning, flaking and minor spotting. The receiver retains 90% original case colors, brightest in the protected areas, with high points and areas on the underside fading to a smooth dove gray. The wood is also excellent with only a few minor dings and handling marks, with very crisp checkering. The engraving is crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
