Manufactured in 1940. Also known as the "Bullseye Match Target", the top of the barrel is marked with the address/patent information. The left side of the barrel is marked with the "MATCH / bullseye / TARGET" logo, the left side of the frame is marked "THE WOODSMAN" and the left side of the slide "COLT AUTOMATIC / CAL. 22 LONG RIFLE" followed by the Rampant Colt. Blade front and adjustable rear target sights, all blue finish, two tone magazine marked "COLT WOODSMAN / CAL. 22 L.R. / MATCH TARGET MOD." and fitted with a pair of original checkered "elephant ear" walnut grips with Colt medallions. Complete with an original unmarked, unserialized black hinged lid box with correct interior labels, "shooting Instructions" pamphlet and a two piece wooden handled cleaning rod.
BBL: 6 5/8 inch flat sided
Stock:
Gauge: 22 LR
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: MT7435
Condition: Excellent. The pistol retains 99% plus original blue finish with a couple of very small areas of minor pitting on the left side of the muzzle and a few scattered overall light scratches and handling marks. With the exception of a minor chip and crack on the lower left rear, (appears that the gun was dropped at sometime), the grips are very good plus with only the slightest handling marks and sharp checkering. Its unfortunate that the left panel is damaged, otherwise the grips would be near mint. The markings are clear and crisp. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good with one corner on the lid showing some heavy wear, wear on the corners and some contact wear and light stains on the interior. A very nice First Series Match Target, hard to find with the original grips, magazine and box.
