Excellent Pre-War 1933 Dated Mauser Banner DRP Rifle with Sling Bayonet and Scabbard
This is a nice example of a early pre-war, pre-Nazi Mauser Banner rifle. These rifles were actually transition rifles between the very first commercial Mauser Banners and the actual Banners, purchased by the German Army for initial use. The top of the front receiver ring is marked with the Mauser Banner logo over 1933, for the year of manufacture, the left side is marked with the commercial "Crown over B, U, G and N" proofs along with the early serial number. The receiver side wall has the commercial markings of "MAUSER -WERKE A.G.OBERNDORF A.N." and the left rear of the barrel is marked with the matching serial number. The stock and handguard are the correct pre-war walnut version with the finger grooves on the sides with the flat metal buttplate with a double circle cartouche on the left rear marked "D.R.P. / 502444" on the center. It has all the correct early milled components, barrel bands, trigger guard, and floor plate, with matching number on most parts. It is complete with the original cleaning rod, tan leather sling and an early unmarked commercial style 98K bayonet with bright blade, smooth wooden handle and metal scabbard.
BBL: 24 inch round
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 8 mm
Finish: blue
Grips:
Serial Number: 52444
Condition: Excellent. The rifle retains 90% original blue finish with some thinning on the receiver. The front barrel band, floor plate and trigger guard have a smooth plum patina with strong traces of original finish. There are a few small gouges on the left side at the receiver, otherwise the stock is excellent with a few minor dings and scratches. There is a minor crack that runs the length of the handguard on top. The sling is excellent. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. The bayonet and scabbard are very good plus with a few minor dents in the handle and the scabbard shows a couple minor dents, small dings and some minor wear.
