This is an excellent example of a mid-production, 1906/24 Luger as produced at the BERN factory in Switzerland. These were the first true Swiss manufactured Lugers produced by the Bern factory for the Swiss Armed Forces. There were approximately 17,000 total produced starting with serial number 15216 through 33089. These lugers were the last model to use the standard 1906 style frame, with all future production at the BERN factory, transitioning to the later, and much simplified 1929 model. The top of the chamber area is blank and the front toggle link is marked with the small Swiss cross over "WAFFENFABRIK / BERN". The left side of the barrel extension has the a small Swiss proof that consists of a single small cross over the letter "M" control proof of Col. Fugleman. The left rear of the barrel, right side of the toggle, barrel extension and frame directly ahead of the trigger are marked with a small Swiss cross. It has the standard 1906 features such as the polished lower safety area, no stock lug, grip safety and fast taper barrel, chambered in the original 7.65mm Luger cartridge. It has the original Swiss checkered walnut grips with the smooth border around the edges and is complete with one nickel plated, wooden base Swiss magazine, that is numbered "0" on the base and an original Swiss brown leather holster. The back of the holster is stamped, "L.G. WALTHER/10/SATTLER BERN".
BBL: 4 3/4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 7.65 mm Luger
Finish: blue/straw colors
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 26140
Condition: Excellent with 97% of the original blue finish overall with 98% of the straw colored small parts. The pistol shows minor edge and high spot wear overall. The sideplate has a spot of pitting present on upper corner. The walnut grips are also in excellent condition with nice sharp checkering with no handling marks, pressure dents or dings anywhere. The holster is in very good plus condition overall with a nice even, matching medium brown color overall with nice tight stitching and clear distinct markings on the back side. The holster shows just minor wear and use over all the leather surfaces. A very nice example of an early 1906 Swiss luger rig.
