Excellent Late Production Colt Bisley Single Action Army 45 Long Colt Revolver with Factory Letter D

Manufactured in 1914, this is an excellent example of a Colt Bisley Model Single Action. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address and the left "(BISLEY MODEL) 45 COLT". The left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patents followed by the Rampant Colt and the matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap. Colt triangle "VP" proof on the upper left front of the trigger guard, "1" at the rear and "42" assembly number on the loading gate. The front sight has been modified with a large brass bead. Blue finish with casehardened frame and hammer, and fitted with checkered walnut grips with silver oval inlay medallions, with "JR" backwards and forwards on the left side on the image of a man on the right side. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, barrel length, blue finish with grips as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as 1 to a Paul L. Haines on February 27, 1914. No information is known about this information.

Condition: Excellent. The revolver retains 97% bright original high polish blue finish with some minor muzzle wear and some thinning on the grip straps. The frame retains 95% original vivid case colors with some fading to gray. The high quality period deluxe grips are very fine with a few minor dings and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
