Brass blade sight, with "US/ GW/ P" on the upper left side of the barrel and "1850" on the tang. The beveled lock plate is marked "MIDDtn/ CONN/ 1855" vertically behind the hammer and "US/ I.N.JOHNSON" to the front. Smooth stock, with a swiveling ramrod and brass furniture.

Condition: Excellent, showing a fine "National Armory" bright appearance overall, with some minor discoloration on the right side of the barrel near the front sight and some scuff marks on the lock. A fine aged patina is showing on the unpolished brass. Stock is excellent, with sharp edges and raised feathered oil finished burl grain. An excellent example of a U.S. Johnson Contract Model 1842 Percussion pistol.
