Manufactured in 1947 This is an excellent example of one of the few thousand Woodsmans that were assembled from left over pre-war parts. In 1946, at serial number 157038, all civilian production stopped during WWII. After the war production started up again and these guns were often made with a mix of pre-war and post-war type finishes and markings. Most, such as this pistol, were fitted with the plastic checkered, extended grips left over from the Match Target military contract. These pistols were the last of the first series Woodsman pistol. The left side of the barrel is marked with the one line address, "THE WOODSMAN" is marked on the left side of the frame, the left side of the slide is marked "COLT AUTOMATIC/CAL..22 LONG RIFLE" followed by the Rampant Colt. Elevation adjustable front blade and windage adjustable rear sights, serrated trigger, blue Colt Woodsman marked magazine and fitted with brown plastic checkered extended grips with "COLT" and the Rampant Colt in a circle at the top. Complete with an original maroon hinged lid box with correct end label, papers and cleaning brush.
