This is an exceptionally rare example of an all original Mauser 711 semi-automatic pistol that was manufactured with the detachable Mauser box magazine without a shoulder stock slot on the rear grip strap. This Model 711 pistol was produced in the early 1930s with the serial numbers generally intermixed with the 712 Schnellfeuer production model and it is estimated that no more than "10" of these pistols were actually produced and imported into this country with very few original examples being identified to date. These were originally imported or sold through the A.F. Stoeger company, the only authorized Mauser importer prior to WWII, and the reason this model is so rare is that the 1932 Omnibus Crime act banned or restricted the ownership of both fully automatic weapons along with the stocked pistol. Hence the reason for the "unmachined" rear frame back strap. This serial number falls right in line with the noted examples on page 152 of the book "System Mauser" by Breathed and Schroeder. These all have the early prewar high polished blue finish with an almost flat milled panel sides. The right side is marked "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER/OBERNDORF A. NECKAR/D.R.P. u. A.R." with the center panel marked, "MADE IN GERMANY" with the left side bearing only the "Mauser Banner" logo farther back towards the rear of the frame. The top of the chamber area is stamped wit the standard three line "Waffenfabrik/Mauser Oberndorf a.N" markings with a single "Crown/U" proof on the left side of the chamber. The serial number is stamped on the rear upper edge of the barrel extension directly behind the rear sight. It has the standard 12 groove walnut grips that are unmarked on the back sides. It is fitted with an original lanyard ring on the butt with one, original 10 shot detachable magazine that is marked on the base plate with the large "Mauser Banner" logo.
