33 inch straight, double fuller blade, with "EWALD CLEEF/SOLINGEN" stamped on the left ricasso, "EWALD CLEEF SOLINGEN" etched on the spine, and "EISENHAUER" etched on the right ricasso. On each side of the blade is a 14 inch long etched panel, with a leafy vine design on the spine, martial themed designs, and on the right a gold highlighted frame around the gold text "E. Rommel". Engraved and gilt finished hilt, with a cut-through design of the Imperial Eagle on the folding guard, single branch knuckle guard, and raised scroll designs on the pommel. The wire wrapped rayskin hilt bears the brass cipher of Kaiser Wilhelm II. With a blue finished steel scabbard. Information provided by the consignor (photocopy included) states that this sword was captured by a Sergeant in the 33rd Photo Squadron of the Signal Corps at the end of WWII. Note that the blade has not been verified as the property of Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, but one can only surmise that even a relative would be significant.

Condition: Excellent, with a few minor handling marks overall and some mild wear on the high edges of the hilt and on the grip. The sheath shows a few dents and areas of spotting. The etching is strong, as is the gold on the blade.
