Manufactured in 1889, this is a very nice example of an early cowboy era Colt Single Action Army with the desirable nickel plated finish, engraved in a Cuno Helfricht pattern and fitted with a set of steer head mother of pearl grips. The engraved pattern consists of a floral motif and geometric designs, with a punch dot background which covers 3/4 of the revolver. The revolver has a standard black powder frame with the left side stamped with the three line patent dates without the Rampant Colt logo. The front edge of the trigger guard bow marked "45 CAL". The barrel is marked with the single line address of "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." on the top and the left side of the barrel is marked "45 COLT" inside a banner. The loading gate is numbered "7884". It has the standard blade front sight and notched rear sight in the top strap and the desirable Colt nickel-plated finish on all the parts with the exception of the niter blue screws. The revolver is fitted with a set of mother of pearl grips with the right grip panel having the classic large Steer head carving.
