This is an exceptional example of a 1906 DWM "American Eagle" commercial Luger. These early commercial Lugers were made expressly for commercial sales through out the world, to include, Europe, South America and the United States. These early examples have the best fit of the various parts with a beautiful hand polished rust blue finish on the metal parts with straw colors on the smaller components. The example has the correct short style frame and upper receiver , flat toggles, and grip safety with the standard 4 3/4 inch tapered barrel, with no stock lug. The top of the chamber area is correctly roll marked with the large and distinctive, "American Eagle" crest, along with the correct "LOADED" marked extractor with the polished lower safety area of the frame. The pistol is correctly numbered in the commercial style with the full serial number on the underside of the barrel and the front of the frame with "GERMANY" stamped below the serial number, along with the last two digits of the serial number (71) stamped on the various smaller parts. The pistol is fitted with a beautiful set of dark European checkered walnut grips and it is complete with a correct commercial magazine that has a nickel plated body with a unmarked wooden base.

Condition: Excellent overall with 97% plus of the original blued finish overall with 90% of the straw colors on the smaller parts. The grips are also excellent with nice sharp distinct checkering, with only a couple of minor compression dents. The pistol has all matching numbers on the various parts to include the grips. An excellent example of a scarce and desirable DWM Model 1906 American Eagle Commercial Luger pistol.
