Manufactured between 1870 and 1890 with approximately 9000 produced. Standard two line Hartford address marking on top of the blue barrel followed by "No. 2", the bottom of the barrel is marked with two British proofmarks and the serial number. The bright steel frame, engraved with leaf scrolls on the sides and top at the breech and behind the hammer, is marked with "41 CAL" just below the barrel release on the right side, "B" just ahead of the trigger and the serial number on the butt. The spur trigger and hammer are casehardened. Varnished checkered birds head grips. Silver blade front sight and a notch in the hammer for the rear sight.

Condition: Very fine with 95% of the bright original high polish blue finish remaining on the barrel, thinning only along high points. The markings on the top of the barrel are faint due to factory polishing but correct. The iron frame is an even, bright patina. The engraving is clear and strong. The grips are excellent the checkering is sharp, crisp and clear.
