Estimate: $4500 - 6500
This is an excellent example of a Colt New Line revolver manufactured in 1879. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address, the underside with the patent marking and the left side "COLT NEW 41" in an etched panel. The left side of the frame below the cylinder is marked "41 CAL" followed by "C" and the matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel, frame, under the grip and the rear face of the cylinder is marked with the letter "S" and the partial serial number "021". The rear of the cylinder is marked with alternating British "crown/V" and "crown/GP" proofs between each chamber. Blue barrel and cylinder, casehardened frame and niter blue trigger, loading gate, cylinder pin, screw heads and hammer with polished sides. German silver blade front and frame notch rear sights and fitted with smooth varnished rosewood grips.
BBL: 2 1/4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 41 CF
Finish: blue/casehardened
Grips: rosewood
Serial Number: 10021
Condition: Excellent. The barrel and cylinder retain 95% plus original high polish blue finish overall. The frame retains 98% original bright, vivid case colors. Almost all of the original fiery niter blue remains on the small parts with some mild thinning on the trigger and loading gate, and there is some marring of the grip screw. The grips are also excellent with 99% original varnish remaining and a few minor dings and handling marks. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. The bore is excellent, the revolver appears un-fired. A very nice etched panel Colt New Line revolver.
