Manufactured circa 1860 to 1868. The top of the barrel rib is marked "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS", the 1855 and 1859 patent dates are marked around the cylinder and the serial number marked on the butt, with "4970" stamped on the inside of the right grip panel. Blade front sight, blue barrel and cylinder, with silver plated brass frame and fitted with smooth varnished rosewood grips. Complete in an English style burl walnut case with fitted royal blue velvet lining, round inset brass disk on the lid and label affixed to the inside of the lid reading :J.A. CARLICK/PLATE, CHEST, &c., MANUFACTURER/MONTREAL C.E.". In the case is a brass cleaning rod and an unopened original 50 count box of Remington UMC 22 Short RF cartridges.

Condition: Excellent. The barrel, cylinder and ejector stud retain 90% plus original bright blue finish with minor high edge wear, and some scattered minor scratches. The frame retains 99% original silver plating, which is beginning to darken with age. The grips are excellent with 99% original varnish, and only storage scuffs. The markings are clear. The barrel hinge is tight and the action is excellent. The case is very good, with a few minor dings and scratches on the exterior and a few areas of contact wear on the lining from the cylinder.
